This report presents the achievements of the Joint Enforcement Unit in securing forest resources in the Mau Forests Complex during the period July 2008 - December 2009.

In order to address the wanton destruction of forest in the Mau and the impacts on environmental stability, economic development, and human well-being, the Government established a multi-stakeholders Task Force on the Conservation of the Mau Forests Complex on 23 July 2008. The Task Force report was completed in March 2009. It was subsequently approved by the Cabinet on 30 July 2009 and by the Parliament on 15 September 2009.
